Authentication​

How do I get an API key?
Contact your Seddi account manager or email support@seddi.com. See Authentication for the full process.

My requests are returning 401. What's wrong?
Check that:

  • You are sending the header as x-api-key (all lowercase)
  • The key value has no leading or trailing whitespace
  • The key has not expired or been revoked

Can I use the API from a browser (client-side)?
Technically yes — CORS is enabled on all endpoints. However, exposing your API key in client-side JavaScript is a security risk. We recommend proxying requests through your own backend.

Rate limits​

What happens if I go over 1,000 requests/minute?
You'll receive a 429 Too Many Requests response. Implement exponential backoff and retry. See Rate Limits.

Can I get a higher quota?
Yes — contact your Seddi account manager to discuss increased limits.

Requests & responses​

I'm getting a 504 Gateway Timeout. Is this on my end?
No. This happens when the backend service is scaling up under load. It is transient — retry the request after 3–5 seconds.

Does the API support pagination?
Style Data list endpoints (brands, styles, colorways, sizes) accept page and page_size as query parameters. Other endpoints return the full result set in a single response.

Image generation​

How long does image generation take?
Often a few seconds, depending on resolution, logo processing, and how many images you request. It can run longer. The gateway allows these calls up to 10 minutes. Build a loading state into your integration and retry a 504.

What image formats are supported?
For requestedImages, supported formats are image/png, image/jpeg, image/jpg, and image/webp. Supported views are FRONT, BACK, LEFT, and RIGHT.
